Combolands building combos are trigger chains in which one placement or effect enables another, producing the cascading scoring described by the developer. Build reliable chains by identifying setup and payoff pieces, preserving the spaces their conditions need, and verifying the result in the current game version. Public sources do not provide a complete formula table for all 120+ buildings.

Read a combo as a chain

Write the expected sequence in order: which building creates the condition, which building reacts, and whether the reaction can happen again. This prevents a visually dense cluster from being mistaken for a functional combo. A chain is only reliable when every trigger condition is satisfied.

The two selected guilds supply the run's building possibilities. Look for cross-pool relationships in the cards you actually receive, but do not assume every pair has the same style or strength. The official store confirms synergy, not a complete release database.

Preserve the trigger geometry

A combo can fail because the right pieces occupy the wrong positions. Reserve adjacent or in-range spaces before filling the board with isolated value. On a procedural island, the same cards may need a different shape from one run to the next.

Use the written spatial terms precisely. Direct adjacency and a wider range are not interchangeable, and terrain restrictions may change the legal sequence. The placement page provides a broader planning method.

Confirmed v1.0.4 examples

Official v1.0.4 notes include fixes so Stockpile scores correctly from Plateau and Sawmill correctly triggers Manufacturer. These are useful examples because the developer identifies both the intended relationship and the prior incorrect behavior. They are not proof of every other building interaction.

When documenting a combo, record the version, exact card text, layout and observed score or trigger. If the behavior changed after a patch, keep the historical note separate. Do not merge pre-fix and post-fix evidence into one formula.

Build a trustworthy combo record

| Field | What to record | | --- | --- | | Version | Exact game build | | Guild pair | Both selected guilds | | Setup | Building or effect that creates the condition | | Payoff | Building or effect that reacts | | Geometry | Adjacency, range and terrain | | Result | Observed trigger and score behavior | | Repeat test | Whether it reproduces on another valid layout |
