Combolands adjacency bonuses must be read from each building's current text; there is no verified single adjacency rule that applies to all 120+ buildings. Separate direct neighbors from broader “in range” effects, preserve the geometry a trigger requires, and treat old Demo examples as historical until reproduced in v1.0.4.
Adjacency and range are different
Direct adjacency normally describes immediately touching tiles, while a ranged effect can cover a wider area defined by the card. The public evidence used here does not establish one universal board geometry for every effect. Use the current preview and card text to identify the valid area.
Do not convert one building example into a global rule. A relationship involving Plateau or Stockpile proves that interaction only. Other buildings may use different terrain, timing or range conditions.
Current confirmed spatial context
Version 1.0.4 fixed the restriction preventing a Plateau from being built on another Plateau. The same patch also fixed Stockpile scoring from Plateau and Sawmill triggering Manufacturer. These notes establish that spatial and trigger behavior was actively corrected near launch.
When a bonus does not fire, check legal placement, current range, terrain and trigger order. Then compare the behavior with current official notes. Record a reproducible layout before reporting a new rule.
Historical Demo examples
Demo v9 notes discussed Composter and Manure, adjacency and range examples, and a Honeypot value adjustment. They show that the game used multiple spatial concepts during development. They do not establish that the same names, values or behaviors remain unchanged in the release build.
This site will move a historical example into a verified table only after a current-build observation supports it. Until then, the example remains context rather than instruction. That boundary prevents an old value from becoming false present-tense guidance.
Testing an adjacency effect
- Record the exact building text and game version.
- Test one direct neighbor with no other possible trigger.
- Move the relevant piece outside adjacency but inside any shown range.
- Repeat on a clean layout when possible.
- Record terrain and trigger order alongside the result.
