There is no verified public ranking of the best Combolands guild combinations. The official game offers 21 two-guild pairings, but no current win-rate database, controlled test set or developer tier list supports an absolute “best” pair. Use the framework below to judge the pairing offered in your run, and treat old-Demo videos as examples rather than meta proof.
Evaluate what each side contributes
Start with the current cards and effects visible in the game. Identify whether each guild supplies setup, payoff, consistency or map flexibility, then look for a relationship between those roles. A useful pair should create more follow-up options together than either pool would create in isolation.
Do not assign effects from a guild name alone. The complete current building pools are not published in the evidence used here. Any exact pair recommendation therefore needs release-build observations that this page does not yet have.
Check for space competition
Two pools can look synergistic while both demanding the same scarce central tiles, terrain or trigger positions. On a procedural island, that competition can make a theoretically attractive pair awkward. Compare the number of useful placements each pool needs with the space the island actually offers.
A balanced pair often has several legal development lines instead of one fragile chain. Preserve enough space to pivot when the next draw does not supply the expected piece. Flexibility is part of pair quality.
Check consistency, not one peak score
One high-scoring screenshot does not establish the best combination. A trustworthy test would repeat the pair across multiple maps and runs, record rank and progression state, and distinguish balance changes between versions. It would also document failed runs rather than selecting only the strongest result.
The publicly cited Blitz video is an old-Demo observation of one economic expansion route. It can show how a player made decisions in that run, but it cannot establish current relative strength for all 21 release pairings. This site does not convert that observation into an S tier.
A repeatable pairing worksheet
- Record the two guilds and current game version.
- Note which spaces and terrain each visible building demands.
- Identify setup, payoff and support roles.
- Track how often one guild enabled the other.
- Record dead draws and placements, not only successful chains.
- Repeat across different islands before drawing a conclusion.
Until that evidence exists, “best” should mean best fit for the current island and visible plan. The guild overview contains the confirmed roster, and the strategy guide expands the decision method.
